Kinja'd!!!

After a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , by yesterday I’d thought she was a goner. Knocking on death’s door. Around midnight, she seemed to perk up a bit, tugging at my leg. Not at all what I’d expected, given how bad she looked yesterday. By morning, she seemed a little brighter still. Given this turn, I took her to a vet clinic today, not to say goodbye, but to see if we could save her.

The good news— blood tests don’t indicate kidney failure or cancer. Urinalysis kind of inconclusive, but won’t have the full results until probably Wednesday. She got an IV, anti-nausea shot, and antibiotic, and I was sent home with a weird topical apetite stimulant med. Total time at the vet-5 hrs. Total cost, $700. Mostly spent waiting. But you take what you can get on a Sunday morning.

She ate a little nibble for the first time since like Wednesday. Still have to get her back to food, water, and evacuation. But she may pull through.

Thank you for all your kind words, Oppo. Y’all are always the best. I guess that’s why we all keep coming back.

Oh man, hang in there kitty (and owner). I’ve given   mine actual baby food or slightly microwaved wet food/water mush to help them get fluids and calories when they’re ill.

In all these years, she’s never really been ill. Just a quiet little hardass who has handled everything life’s thrown at her calmly and charmingly. My little tiger.

She’s a smart, resourceful, and unrelentingly calm little tiger. I owe her pretty much everything.

Hooray! I hope this trend continues. I’m really happy to hear she’s not experiencing kidney failure; that’s what I feared was happening after your last update .

Keep us posted.

Well I do hope the furry friend will get better. I just lost my dog the other day, he beat cancer a year ago and then a very aggressive infection got him, we will never know exactly what happened I guess. Worrying about them sucks, good luck.

What have you tried feeding?

My cat is generally old and cranky, but goes completely insane when given a little bit of raw meat. I think his teeth are bad so he doesn’t like dry food. Ground beef or chicken is easier to chew on.

She’s not touching the dry food, but she’s starting to get back to the canned food. I’ll definitely be getting her some chicken, too.

I’ve been making chicken thighs for myself recently, and the cat can hear the cutting board coming out when I start cooking . He starts bouncing around and meowing and scratching and being extremely annoying. I cut a few pieces up into chunks that are small enough that he doesn’t really even need to chew, and he inhales them raw .

Then he goes back to sleep.
